Our history

Located in upper Barcelona, La Balsa, has been operating since 1979, inviting you to live a unique culinary experience where the passion for cooking is reflected in every dish.
Founded by Memé and Antonio López de Lamadrid, supported by the Güell family, the restaurant preserves the essence of its origins. Its design, by Óscar Tusquets and Lluís Clotet, integrates the stone walls of an old irrigation pond and a wooden structure, creating a unique space awarded the FAD Architecture Prize in 1979.
On the menu, you will find carefully selected local and seasonal products from small, trusted local producers. Enjoy a delicious meal on its spacious terrace with panoramic views, or relax in its elegant interior, where natural light streams through large windows.
La Balsa is the perfect place to celebrate special occasions or simply enjoy of families’, friends’, or a partner’s company.

Kitchen

Each year, our chef prepares a menu based on market cuisine where the quality and freshness of the product is enhanced, accompanied by an elaboration focused on traditional Mediterranean cuisine with small nods to current trends.

We also work with seasonal suggestions, so there will always be a variety of delicious off-menu dishes that will accompany you in every season of the year.

Indoor

In the indoor area you will be able to admire in detail the fabulous architecture of LA BALSA; from the solid wood structure to the large folding windows that will let you contemplate our lush vegetation outside.

Heated terrace

What could be better than being able to enjoy the outdoors in winter?
Our wonderful covered terrace allows us to be in contact with our garden while enjoying a good meal in winter.
We have insulating panels and underfloor heating throughout the space. In summer, thanks to the covered sailes, you can also enjoy this fabulous space.
